Grok Imagine Introduced, Producing Both Images and Videos (Also Generates 18+ Adult Content)

Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has made Grok Imagine, a tool capable of generating images and videos, available to SuperGrok and Premium+ X subscribers via its iOS application. However, the most-talked-about feature of this new tool is its permission to generate 18+ adult content.

Developed by xAI, Grok Imagine is a powerful media production tool that can create images and 15-second videos from text or visual prompts in seconds. The application also has an option called “spicy mode.” This mode allows users to generate sexually explicit images that contain partial nudity. However, once a certain threshold is exceeded, the system censors the generated content by blurring it.

Controversially, Grok Imagine also allows users to include famous names in their visual prompts. However, there are some restrictions. For example, tests conducted by TechCrunch to show Donald Trump as pregnant were unsuccessful; the system only generated images of Trump with a baby or a pregnant woman.

Human Images Still Lack Realism

Even though the system produces quick results, human figures still exhibit the “uncanny valley” effect. The images show unrealistic skin textures and waxy-looking surfaces. Still, with its ability to generate visuals in seconds and automatically turn them into animations, Grok Imagine offers a remarkable user experience.

Grok Imagine aims to be a direct competitor to AI giants like Google DeepMind, OpenAI, and Runway. In a post on X, Elon Musk stated that the system will get better every day. xAI had already drawn attention last month by releasing an anime-based AI companion that generated “extremely sexual” content. Therefore, it’s not surprising that Grok Imagine allows for 18+ content. However, it’s likely that the system will become the focus of ethical and legal debates in the future.
